Modified mandibulotomy as an approach to parapharyngeal space tumors: a case report

Abstract Background A mandibulotomy approach has been introduced for removal of posteriorly-based tumors the oral cavity, oropharynx, and certain parapharyngeal with minimum morbidity. Case presentation middle-aged male presented a left-sided upper neck mass last year difficulty in swallowing past six months. previous history sclerotherapy incision drainage was present histopathological examination report from drainage-derived tissue suggestive lymphangioma. On examination, single soft globular swelling measuring approximately 6 × 4 cm left infra-auricular region scar 1 0.5 present. Oropharynx: tonsillar bulge reaching up to uvula. Contrast-enhanced MRI revealed an enhancing lesion suggesting vascular tumour affecting pre post-styloid compartment.
